HERITAGE BREED CHICKENS |
Reds are our most consistent brown egg layers, and because of their size are well suited to the dinner table. Their offspring's are the healthiest and heartiest of chicks in our flocks. They are very fast growing and reach maturity as early as 18 weeks. The hotter it gets in the summer, the better they lay their big brown eggs. |
A classic "barnyard bird" and prolific brown egg layer. Barred Rocks are known as a dual purpose chicken for their size and quality as a meat bird. This breed is well suited year round to Texas climates. |
RHODE ISLAND REDS |
BARRED ROCK (a.k.a. PLYMOUTH ROCK) |
BUFF ORPINGTON (a.k.a. BUFF) |
These very docile golden birds are known for their "intelligence", some owners claiming that they come when called. This breed was developed in Orpington, England in the mid 19th century. Both winter hard and good layers, hens can get up to a hefty 10 lbs, and roosters even more for those who value meat birds. |
